Metallurgy Specimen Mounting Press

The Metallurgy Specimen Mounting Press is an essential laboratory machine designed to encapsulate irregular, hard-to-hold metallographic samples in a standardized mount. This process reshapes and sizes specimens, making them safe and easy to handle during subsequent cutting, grinding, and polishing stages, ensuring precise analysis under a metallurgical microscope or Vickers hardness tester.

Engineered for safety, reliability, and low-noise operation, this press is the ideal specimen preparation instrument for colleges, laboratories, and industrial factories.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Consistent, Void-Free Mounts: Achieves perfect specimen encapsulation every time, which is critical for accurate microscopic analysis and reliable test results.

  • Safe & Reliable Performance: Built with robust safety features and dependable mechanics to ensure long-term, trouble-free operation in busy lab environments.

  • User-Friendly Operation: Simple controls and an intuitive workflow make the machine accessible for all users, from students to seasoned technicians.

  • Low-Noise Design: Creates a quieter, more comfortable working environment, reducing operator fatigue.

How It Works: The Mounting Process

The hot mounting process ensures a durable, high-quality sample:

  1. Prepare Specimen & Mold: Clean the specimen and apply a mold release agent to a clean mold.

  2. Fill Mold with Resin: Place the specimen face-down and fill the mold with thermosetting resin (e.g., Bakelite/Phenolic).

  3. Load into Press: Insert the filled mold into the press and start the automated cycle.

  4. Apply Pressure & Heat: The press applies pressure and heats the resin to its curing temperature.

  5. Cool Under Pressure: The system cools the mold while maintaining pressure to prevent cracking and shrinkage.

  6. Eject the Mount: Once cool, the finished, solid mount is ejected from the mold, ready for the next preparation step.

This streamlined workflow delivers consistent mounts that are essential for efficient and accurate metallographic analysis.
