How It Works: The Mounting Process
The hot mounting process ensures a durable, high-quality sample:

Prepare Specimen & Mold: Clean the specimen and apply a mold release agent to a clean mold.

Fill Mold with Resin: Place the specimen face-down and fill the mold with thermosetting resin (e.g., Bakelite/Phenolic).

Load into Press: Insert the filled mold into the press and start the automated cycle.

Apply Pressure & Heat: The press applies pressure and heats the resin to its curing temperature.

Cool Under Pressure: The system cools the mold while maintaining pressure to prevent cracking and shrinkage.

Eject the Mount: Once cool, the finished, solid mount is ejected from the mold, ready for the next preparation step.
