How to determining the fabric’s Grams per Square Meter (GSM)?
Cut: Place the fabric on a resilient backing mat. Position the cutter on the fabric and press the handle down firmly to cut a perfect circular sample.
Weigh: Remove the cut sample and weigh it on a precision balance nearest to 0.01g
Calculate: The GSM is calculated using the formula:
For a 100 cm² cutter: GSM = Weight in grams × 100
*(This works because 100 cm² is 1/100th of a square meter. Multiplying the sample’s weight by 100 gives the weight per square meter).*
