Glycerol (Glycerin) Oil Solution

  • Purpose: The hydraulic fluid used to transmit pressure within the burst tester.

  • Why Quality Matters: High-purity, de-aired glycerol ensures smooth, bubble-free operation. Air bubbles or impurities can compress, leading to inaccurate pressure readings and non-compliant test results.

  • Benefit: Guarantees consistent hydraulic pressure transfer for precise and repeatable burst strength values.

Rubber Diaphragm (Membrane / Rubber Pad)

  • Purpose: The flexible membrane that bulges to apply pressure to the test specimen.

  • Specification:

    • Material: High-Grade Rubber

    • Overall Diameter: 80 mm

    • Standard Thickness: 2 mm

    • Centre Thickness: 2.5 mm (Reinforced)

    • Rubber Hardness: 60 HA (Shore A)

    • Diaphragm Bulge Resistance:

      • At 10mm bulge: 170 – 220 kPa

      • At 18mm bulge: 250 – 350 kPa

    Note: The bulge resistance values are critical for calibration and ensure the diaphragm meets the force application standards required for accurate burst testing.

  • Why Quality Matters: This is the most critical wear item. A worn, nicked, or aged diaphragm will not bulge uniformly, leading to significant errors in burst strength measurement. Its thickness and elasticity are calibrated to the standard.

  • Benefit: Ensures the correct pressure is applied to the sample, directly impacting the accuracy of every test.

Aluminium Test Foil

  • Purpose: Used for the diaphragm calibration check. The foil is tested instead of a paper sample to verify the pressure required to burst the diaphragm itself.

  • Why Quality Matters: The foil must have a consistent and known burst strength. This regular calibration check confirms that your tester and diaphragm are functioning correctly and that the recorded pressure is accurate.
